International Associated Laboratory “Developmental Neurobiology” is a collaborative research project between Institut de neurobiologie de la méditerranée (Inmed/Inserm U901, Marseille, France) and Laboratory of Neurobiology (Kazan Federal University, Kazan, Russia) on the neurophysiology of the developing brain.
Inserm and the Kazan Federal University will conduct a joint programme, led by Dr Rustem KHAZIPOV and selected within the framework of the Mega-grant:
Cooperation to establish cutting-edge research of brain activity during the early stages of development at the Kazan Federal University
Main goal of the project is to determine the principles of the brain functions and development, and pathophysiological mechanisms underlying principal diseases of the central nervous system (epilepsy, brain ischemia, trauma, pain) to ameliorate diagnostics and to find cure against these diseases.
The main objectives of the Inmed and its scientific teams are to study the development and plasticity of the brain and the pathologies of brain development. The Inmed is also an active centre of scientific training and scientific dissemination through training of students from different backgrounds (from undergraduate to post-doctoral students, from biologists to medical doctors), participation in teaching at the Faculty of Science, Lurniny, the organization of training courses and major scientific meetings at the European level.
The Kazan Federal University carries out higher education programmes and research activity. The University emphasizes research-based training of highly skilled graduates and the development of fundamental and applied research as essentials for the provision of high quality education. The University aims to respond in an effective manner to new and evolving scientific and educational challenges.
